It has been so nice to start opening the windows and go outside again this past week. Owen would rather be outside kissing worms than being inside any day. Oh yes, you read that right. Owen and Tony were outside this past weekend and he found a worm and before going back inside he wanted to give the worm a kiss goodbye. Yuck! Tony convinced him that a wave would be just fine. I’m going to have to start checking his pockets before doing laundry for fear of bugs.
I’ve been doing a ton of reading lately and finished a few books. Here are some suggestions for a rainy day, Heartburn by Nora Ephron and Circling The Sun by Paula McLain. Two very different books, but that’s why book clubs are fun. You get to read something that you would have never picked up.
I’ve never been a huge fan of Valentine’s Day, but it’s a fun excuse to go out to dinner, which we did this past weekend. We dropped Owen off at a random daycare, and went out on our date. The daycare we dropped Owen off at isn’t where he is currently goes. A mom-friend of mine informed me that the daycare was having a parent’s night out that included crafts, pizza, and a movie. He really enjoyed his evening, and he was still going strong when we picked him up at 9 pm. We might even look into switching daycares if they have any openings because it is much closer to our house.
Since dinner was planned only a few days in advance our options were limited. We had dinner at Juniper Grill, which we had been to once before with Owen. It was nice to go this time just the two of us.
Owen is always wanting to paint, so I finally broke down and let him paint this past weekend. We did this Valentine’s Day craft that I pinned a few weeks ago. It was pretty easy to prep and came out looking good.
Hope everyone has a great Valentine’s Day!
I finally found a creative part time job so Owen will be starting daycare 2 days a week. I’m very excited for him to get back to a routine and hopefully learn a few things too. We didn’t get into the location we wanted to, so we are going to have to drive a little further and hopefully come summer we can get into the closer one. I’m sad that we will be missing out on some play dates now with his new schedule, but I’m enjoying my new job.
It’s funny how the little things sometimes can really make a toddler’s day. Last week during a play group Owen took 2 seconds with the craft, but he is still playing with it. They decorated superhero masks and they were a hit. Surprisingly he’s only ripped it a little so far. Here he is enjoying his mask. It’s hard to get him to stay still these days.
