What a whirlwind of a week it has been. Between my birthday, going out pretty much every night, and picking up a new car I am exhausted. On Monday we had a neighborhood meetup at a bar/restaurant. Tuesday I had a book club meeting. Wednesday (my birthday) we grabbed a quick pizza, and then picked up our new car (Honda CR-V) :). On Thursday we went to Shadowbox to watch the Brew Ha Ha competition show. Friday we finally relaxed a bit, and cooked dinner at home, but then on Saturday we went out again – met a few friends at a Food Truck festival, and then walked across the street to Oktoberfest. Wheh! It feels like we never really stopped for a breather this week.
More on the new car: My husband has been meaning to get a new car for a few months now, and we wanted a more family friendly car. I have been pushing for an SUV for a while, and we test drove the Mazda CX-5 but weren’t very impressed by it. The Honda CR-V seemed to be a better fit for us. After some wheeling and dealing the CR-V is ours. So far so good, I just need to get used to backing out of our narrow driveway :).
We received a few more cards this week congratulating us on the baby. It makes me happy to see that our friends and family are as excited as we are about our growing family. This week I have been feeling tired and have noticed more breakouts and dandruff. Hopefully this will go away when the baby arrives.
In other baby news, during my lunch break this week I was able to grab a few maternity items at H&M. They only have a few racks but it is nice to know that it’s there. I still need some jeans and black pants. Maybe this weekend I will take a look at Gap and Old Navy to see what they have. Now off to another book club meeting.

This weekend has gone by so fast. On Friday I went out to dinner with a friend, yesterday we looked at cars and then went out to dinner with friends, and today I made some minestrone soup and pumpkin cookies. After dinner on Friday I felt really bloated and decided to weigh myself and realized that I gained 2 lbs, but then the next morning it all went away. It is crazy how that can happen. Has that ever happened to anyone? It is a weird feeling.

Sorry that I have been MIA for a few days. I have just been so tired lately. Like almost falling asleep at my desk at work by 2pm. I am sure all of you ladies that have been pregnant before understand. Any tips on trying to stay awake longer? Have I mentioned that I have been in bed by 9pm all this past week? So I am not sure how much more sleep I can get. I have heard that during the next trimester I should have more energy. Hopefully that is true.
During my lunch break today I decided to take a walk into the new Nordstrom Rack that opened a few weeks ago. Of course they don’t have maternity, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t shop for accessories. I was impressed with how clean the store was and the great selection of jewelry and shoes. I behaved myself and only walked out with one thing, a bigger bra. The bra isn’t that big on the spectrum, but it the biggest size that I have ever been. Thank you pregnancy hormones. I wonder how many bras I will have to buy during this pregnancy? We’ll have to wait and see.
Feeling the love this weekend from friends and family. While away for the weekend celebrating the wedding of close friends we slowly revealed the news to some people. They all couldn’t congratulate us enough. My mother in law gave us a very sweet card along with a baby photo album. And when we arrived home there was another card waiting. My parents also had a get together in Pittsburgh where they invited some family and each of the family members got a card with the due date and our names in them. I thought this was really sweet of them. Our baby is only the size of a gummy bear and already feeling the love.

Another restless night last night. The dark circles under my eyes keep getting a little more noticeable everyday. I am not so sure I like the pillow that I bought. Maybe once I have more of a belly it will work better.
Today I went out for lunch with coworkers, and it was so hard to find something that I could eat. I wanted a salad, but every one of their salads had either feta or Gorgonzola. Such a shame :(. So I ordered a flat-bread instead. It was good, but I actually really wanted a salad.
Tomorrow we are off to a wedding celebration. Food will also be a challenge this weekend because they are having a bunch of small courses for the reception. So we made sure to give them a heads up that I was pregnant. Hopefully the pregnancy menu will be tasty and somewhat healthy.
During my first Ultrasound yesterday we found out that all is well with the baby. What a relief! We heard the heartbeat, which was unbelievable and got a few pictures printed out. It is still so new and amazing to me that I have a growing baby in my belly. Right now the baby is only 1.61 cm long, not even a peanut yet, but rapidly growing and has a healthy heartbeat. I can’t wait to show the pictures to our parents this weekend. Even if you can’t really see much :).
Yesterday I bought one of those pregnancy pillows. After washing the cover I got frustrated trying to put it back on so my husband had to do it so that I could use it. I am not totally sold on it yet. It was comfortable but seemed a little stiff for me. But I am going to use it for a few weeks and see it it helps me sleep.

This is the first weekend we have not had to travel in over a month, and it has been a very productive one. Yesterday I did a total clothes overhaul, and went through all my drawers and closet and will be donating a bunch of clothes. I wanted to get this done because we have two dressers that we have been using for clothes storage that will need to get be moved out of the second bedroom to get ready to decorate for the nursery. Yay!
I have also been baking a bit too this weekend. I made these yummy banana oatmeal chocolate chip balls. You take, “4 large bananas 2 cups oatmeal 1 cup chocolate chips Roll in balls and bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Let cool and enjoy!”. I also made, Peanut Butter Granola, recipe found here, http://www.shape.com/healthy-eating/healthy-recipes/10-healthy-peanut-butter-recipes/slide/2. Another great recipe especially to pack for lunch is this Pasta Salad http://www.skinnymommy.com/2012/07/kitchen-sink-pasta-salad.html. Lastly I made apple cinnamon overnight oats http://mywholefoodlife.com/2013/08/26/apple-cinnamon-overnight-oats/. I found all the recipes on Pinterest. All the recipes are super easy and don’t require a bunch of ingredients. You can probably tell that I am getting hungrier every day, and I want to make sure I have healthy snacks on hand. Happy cooking!
We are both very excited for my first ultrasound on Tuesday. I just need to remember that because it it so early in my pregnancy we might not be able to hear a heartbeat. But I am crossing my fingers that we do.
